University students receiving Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) through Student Finance England. Our Specialist Mentor – Autism Spectrum Conditions role supports autistic students and students with ADHD. Our Specialist Mentor – Mental Health role supports students with mental health conditions.
A Specialist Mentor helps you manage university alongside your condition: understanding what your course expects, planning your time and workload, prioritising, setting realistic goals, spotting what gets in the way and building your independence. Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming: we work with how your mind actually works. Specialist mentoring is not subject tutoring or counselling.
Our rate is £55 per hour for both roles, with no VAT because we are not VAT registered. Your DSA pays for the support directly through Student Finance England, so you don't pay anything yourself.
Yes. We offer face-to-face support in North West England, including Manchester, and remote support by Microsoft Teams anywhere in the UK. You can choose either one or a mix, and switch whenever you like.
Your Needs Assessor asks providers on the Department for Education's NMH Register for quotes, and Student Finance England approves one. If your DSA2 letter names Neurodivergent Minds, email nmh@neurodivergentminds.com with a copy of the letter and we'll arrange your first session.
We aim to reply within 2 working days. We will be taking new students as soon as our registration on the NMH Register is approved. Email nmh@neurodivergentminds.com.
After each session we email you a short summary with the date, time and type of support. You confirm it took place, either with a button or by replying "I confirm". We only claim for sessions you have confirmed, billed in 15-minute blocks.
